Denmark and its jamborees

Denmark, a part of the Nordic countries and situated advantageously in Europe with excellent flight and train connections, is an ideal host for the 27th World Scout Jamboree. Our compact size, easy accessibility, favorable summer climate, robust and sustainable infrastructure, and cooperative authorities make Denmark a prime choice.

Over the past 11 years, the Guides and Scouts of Denmark have successfully organized three national Jamborees (Spejdernes Lejr in 2012, 2017, and 2022), each held in different locations and drawing an average of 35,000 participants. Moreover, we are currently planning two more Jamborees for 2026 and 2030.

If our bid for the 27th World Scout Jamboree is accepted, the 2030 event will serve as a pre-Jamboree, ensuring seamless coordination, testing the campsite and infrastructure, and promoting sustainable practices in material and infrastructure usage. This will establish a robust framework for the Jamboree and enhance collaboration with local authorities.

Culture and art

Denmark, known for its rich culture and picturesque landscapes, offers a delightful blend of tradition and modernity. With a monarchy adding regal charm and a strong commitment to democracy, the country embraces inclusive governance.

Culturally vibrant, Denmark boasts a legacy of influential figures like Hans Christian Andersen and a thriving design scene in Copenhagen. The nation's dedication to green energy aligns with its love for the outdoors, attracting adventurers and eco-conscious individuals alike.

Association life flourishes, fostering a sense of community and engagement across sports, arts, and various interest groups. The Danish language, a melodic Nordic tongue, reflects the country's heritage, warmly shared by locals.

Efficient transportation

With extensive experience from hosting national Jamborees, our focus for the potential World Scout Jamboree bid is on efficient transportation. We aim to facilitate seamless journeys for Scouts and Guides, promoting the use of buses and public transport. In our planning, we will designate official entry points, ensuring readily available bus transportation to the campsite.

Copenhagen Airport, a major regional hub, enhances connectivity with convenient connecting flights, strategically located within a four-hour drive from any part of Denmark. This prioritizes transportation convenience, making the World Scout Jamboree easily accessible for participants from various locations.

Mild weather conditions

Denmark's varied weather, from cozy winters to sunlit summers, enhances its appeal. For hosting the 27th World Scout Jamboree, we suggest scheduling from July 28th to August 8th, taking advantage of ideal outdoor conditions.

Daytime temperatures range from 20°C to 26°C, with cooler evenings around 14-15°C. Summer in Denmark maintains 75% average humidity, and while August is warm, anticipate some rainfall, averaging 67 millimeters for the month.

A sustainable World Jamboree

In 2031, the World Scout Jamboree in Denmark will use only renewable energy, mainly from wind power. Although some backup systems may not initially be green, we are committed to planting trees to offset any resulting carbon footprint. To accommodate the reliance on technology, we are actively seeking sustainable solutions for participants to charge their devices responsibly. Guidelines will be provided to minimize waste in electricity, water usage, and materials across the camp.

To reduce food waste, we are introducing a cookbook and a food market, allowing units to choose dishes and supplies according to their needs. While meats will be portioned, essentials like vegetables and spices will be freely available.

All vehicles at the World Scout Jamboree will be fully electric to highlight our commitment to sustainability. However, some specialized and government/contractor vehicles may not have electric alternatives.

In summary, Denmark’s cultural richness, green initiatives, vibrant community life, adventurous spirit, monarchy, democracy, language, and varied weather will contribute to an inviting and unforgettable experience.
